EcoLayers, Inc. was formed in September 2007 with private funding. The company has over 20 customers. The EcoLayers platform has been deployed over the full range of geographic scales: Tree, parcel, site, service area, watershed and aquifer, region, and global oceans. Joe Purohit is Founder and CEO of EcoLayers, Inc. Joe brings to the water industry over 30 years of experience providing innovative, break-through solutions to complex problems in other industries that faced disruptive change: Electric power and telecommunications. Prior to forming EcoLayers in September, 2007, Joe served as President/CEO of three San Diego based software and wireless technology start-ups. From 1994-1999, based in Moscow and London, he led the development of green field electric power projects in the emerging markets of Russia, Eastern Europe and India for BP-Amoco. Earlier, he worked at AT&T in strategy and business development to commercialize wireless, voice, and video technologies, which shaped the modern internet. In the eighties, at General Electric his team pioneered the use of first-generation microprocessors and advanced sensors to build the first ever technology platform for automated operation of power distribution systems. Joe received his undergraduate and graduate degrees in electrical power engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, India and the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY, and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.
