Traditional approaches to managing data for water resources and watersheds consist of paper/Excel-based methods that are too simplistic and ineffective, or custom-developed software that cannot be adapted to changing user needs and environmental contexts (e.g., floods, fires, invasives). These custom solutions are expensive, with limited capabilities for handling geospatial information, integrating this geospatial information with other types of information, and enabling secure collaboration between organizational or project partners.
EcoLayers 2.0
EcoLayers 2.0 is a suite of web-based decision support tools for integrated, adaptive, and collaborative management of environmental issues related to water and watersheds. Watersheds include lakes, reservoirs, land development and construction, industrial facilities, ground water, agricultural land use, stormwater run-off, wetlands and everything else that make up a watershed. The product incorporates insights gained over more than three years working with industry experts, regulators, government agencies, and environmental organizations. A few of its capabilities include:
- Means for data input and aggregation from various sources: Spatial, monitoring data, documents, drawings, images, maps, photos and a lot more
- Tools for the management, integration, visualization and analysis of this data
- Customizable to meet different organizational, departmental and end-user needs
- Secure information sharing and collaboration. Project partners, collaborators, or co-permittees can work together across watersheds, jurisdictions, compliance programs, etc.
- Scalable to economically meet the needs of local water bodies, an entire watershed, or an entire region.
- Adapt your information collection, collaboration, and analysis to changing environmental contexts, e.g., floods, fires, invasives, different grant sources
- Google Map and Google Earth integration
